Cupolas of Pinehurst
Stroll around the Village of Pinehurst and you'll find historic buildings, quaint shops, brick sidewalks and another charming feature - cupolas.
Cupolas are those symmetrical ornamental designs you'll find at top of buildings, homes and garages. Most cupolas are shaped as domes and topped by some kind of decoration.
In Pinehurst, it is not unexpected to find golfers atop cupolas, but also horses, crosses and even a sailing ship.

The copper-clad, double cupola pictured sits atop the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst represents classic southern style. The hotel opened its doors on January 1, 1901 and is the flagship of the Pinehurst Resort.
