Stepping Back in Time

September 7, 2020 Pinehurst, NC

I walked into the Old Golf Shop yesterday and was brought back to the early days of golf. Owner Robert Hansen was my guide as he walked me thru his extensive collection of golf history, all for sale to collectors.

For sale is a bronze statute of Harry Vardon, considered to be the best golfer of his day. In 1900, Mr. Vardon crossed the Atlantic from the United Kingdom to play in an exhibition in Pinehurst. This is one only only 5 statues of it's kind know to be existence.

Robert has a passion for what he does, and it shows in the way he talks about the things in is shop. He is an expert of golf history and is happy to take the time to tell stories about every piece in his shop.

Robert Hansen, owner of Old Golf Shop in the historic district of the Village of Pinehurst.

The Old Golf Shop is located at 27 Chinquapin Rd, in the heart of the Village Historical District.

Robert Hanson describes an original work of art for sale in his golf shop. Recognize anyone in the painting?

For sale in the Old Golf Shop is one of the first golf balls that Tiger Woods ever autographed and one of his rings from the U.S. Amateur.
